Over her six years at Montana State University, Ingrid Peters has found that science communication and skiing have more in common than she expected.

Peters, who will graduate with her second undergraduate degree at MSU’s spring commencement, teaches skiing in the winter. Finding common ground with her students and breaking down processes that can seem very complex helped her build a set of skills that translated seamlessly to presenting research she conducted examining water quality around Montana.

Peters joined a collaborative project conducting a comprehensive health risk assessment of well water around the state, analyzing groundwater contaminant data and blending the science with critical public education.
