High Plains Cattle Prices August 2026

The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending Aug. 23, reported receipts of 53,592 head compared to 39,416 head a week ago and 68,041 head a year ago, according to the USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report was based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 21,432 head, 1,375 to 1,700 lbs., 220.00 to 227.00 (225.01).. Live delivered, 230 head, 1,400 to 1,600 lbs. 223.00 to 227.50 (226.83). Dressed delivered basis, over 80% Choice, 14,930 head, 839 to 1,113 lbs., 350.00 to 360.00 (355.40); 65 to 80%, 657 head, 1,040 lbs., 356.00 to 359.00 (358.47); 35 to 65%, 142 head, 845 lbs., 356.00. Dressed FOB, over 80% Choice, 658 head, 953 to 1,048 lbs., 356.00).

Heifers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 6,209 head, 1,275 to 1,500 lbs., 221.00 to 226.00 (225.14). Dressed delivered, over 80% choice, 5,093 head, 826 to 935 lbs. 350.00 to 359.00 (355.49).; 65 to 80% Choice, 107 head, 809 lbs., 356.00.
