High Plains cattle sales report

The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending Aug. 17, reported receipts of 39,416 head compared to 83,721 head a week ago and 47,330 head a year ago, according to the USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report was based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 11,992 head, 1,450 to 1,660 lbs., 223.00 to 235.00 (228.53); 65 to 80% Choice, 292 head, 1,390 to 1,525 lbs., 228.00; Dressed delivered basis, over 80% Choice, 15,318 head, 851 to 1,097 lbs., 351.00 to 380.00 (365.19); 65 to 80%, 366 head, 922 to 1,073 lbs., 360.00 to 365.00 (360.72). Dressed FOB, over 80% Choice, 1,320 head, 984 to 1,056 lbs., 360.00 to 365.00 (361.96).

Heifers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 3,377 head, 1,250 to 1,480 lbs., 223.00 to 232.00 (227.57); 65 to 80% Choice, 627 head, 1,325 to 1,375 lbs., 228.00; Live delivered, over 80% choice, 12 head, 1,275 to 1,275 lbs.,  235.00. Dressed delivered, over 80% choice, 2,430 head, 803 to 958 lbs. 353.00 to 372.00 (363.96). Dressed FOB, over 80% Choice, 286 head, 880 to 894 lbs., 364.00.
