CHS Harvest for Hunger raises half a million dollars to combat rural hunger
CHS Inc., the nation’s leading farmer-owned cooperative based in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, recently announced that its annual Harvest for Hunger campaign raised $534,535 and collected 14,374 pounds of food to support food shelves, food pantries and nonprofit organizations across rural America in this year’s campaign.
Driven by the energy and kindness of CHS employees, producers and communities, this year’s effort will help provide more than 2.95 million meals to individuals and families facing food insecurity across the CHS trade territory. The 2025 campaign saw $317,004 raised directly through local fundraising, with additional support from CHS corporate contributions.
“Food insecurity exists in every county across the country, and rural communities are no exception,” said Megan Wolle, senior director, CHS stewardship. “Through Harvest for Hunger, we’re proud to come together as a cooperative system to make a real impact where we live and work. Farmers and ranchers have generously participated in our annual food, funds and grain drive, and employees at our ag retail locations have worked with their local community members to organize creative fundraisers such as bowling events, chili feeds, adult proms, kraut-strudel sales and cornhole tournaments.”
Since the program’s inception in 2011, CHS and its partners have contributed more than $8.89 million and nearly 4.1 million pounds of food to fight hunger across the cooperative’s footprint.
According to Feeding America, more than 47 million people in the U.S. are food insecure, including 14 million children. With food insecurity touching every community, CHS is committed to continuing its support for rural families and communities in need.
