Record-setting Night of Stars Gilt Sale tops $2 million at 2026 OYE

The top 135 gilts—selected from nearly 3,000 entries at the 2026 Oklahoma Youth Expo gilt show—took center stage on March 17 at the Night of Stars Gilt Sale, where 4-H and FFA exhibitors saw record-breaking results. Total sales reached $2 million, with an average of $14,914 per gilt—both new records for the event.

Leading the sale was lot one, the supreme champion commercial gilt, owned by Makenna Oliver of Velma-Alma FFA. Bidding quickly surged past the previous record of $175,000 set in 2024, ultimately topping out at an impressive $380,000 for the crossbred gilt, a son of Dog Eat Dog.

Buyers from across the country participated in the more than three-hour sale, with several gilts headed to states including California and Illinois. A second gilt also reached six figures. The third overall commercial gilt, shown by Layne Allen of Canute 4-H, and bred by Goss Livestock, sold for $130,000.

Two additional gilts surpassed the $70,000 mark. The ninth overall dark crossbred, owned by Jace Clark of Morris FFA, brought $70,000. Later in the sale, a standout bid of $75,000 was placed on the 117th gilt, the 46th dark crossbred, owned by Maverick Mosteller of Fort Gibson 4-H.

In the purebred division, Spot gilts dominated. The supreme champion purebred Spot, owned by Mylee Coleman of Madill FFA, sold for $45,000. The reserve champion Spot, owned by Nicholas Armitage of Miller 4-H, brought $40,000. The third-place Spot, exhibited by Alyssa Moore of Blair FFA, rounded out the top purebred sales at $35,000.
