Sensaphone offers cellular, wireless and internet-based monitoring for livestock facilities

Because barn conditions can change quickly, Sensaphone offers cellular, wireless and internet-based remote monitoring systems that help livestock facility managers detect temperature or power issues early, receive immediate alerts and respond before animal welfare or operations are affected. Sensaphone livestock monitoring systems keep tabs on conditions such as temperature, humidity, power failures, water leaks, carbon dioxide levels and equipment status.

“Livestock facilities depend on stable barn conditions, reliable ventilation and quick response to equipment issues,” said Rob Fusco, director of business development at Aston, Pennsylvania-based Sensaphone. “Our monitoring systems provide flexible, cost-effective monitoring from budget-friendly entry-level options to more robust and highly expandable solutions.”

Sensaphone offers three main monitoring approaches for livestock and barn environments:

Cellular barn monitoring:

  • The Sensaphone Sentinel Cellular and Sensaphone Sentry systems use 4G/LTE cellular connectivity at facilities with limited or no onsite internet access.
  • The Sentinel Cellular monitors up to 12 sensor inputs or conditions, while the Sentry monitors up to five.
  • The Sensaphone Sentinel PRO Cellular remote monitoring system integrates with equipment operated by programmable logic controllers and can be paired with the WSG30 to expand the system’s reach and incorporate wireless sensors.
  • All systems can send alarm notifications by text message, email or phone call to an unlimited number of contacts.

Wireless barn sensors: The Sensaphone WSG30 remote monitoring system supports up to 30 external wireless sensors for barns with multiple rooms, long distances or areas where running wires is difficult.

Internet-based monitoring: Facilities with reliable Ethernet access can use Sensaphone Sentinel and Sentinel PRO monitoring systems for web-based setup, remote status checks and configuration changes from any web-enabled device.

Sensaphone monitoring systems also support cloud visibility, data logging and multi-device management, depending on the model:

  • Sentinel Cellular and Sentinel PRO Cellular: store readings in the cloud with unlimited storage and provide daily event reports and audit logs.
  • Sentry: displays readings in the cloud and supports multiple devices from one account.
  • WSG30: includes a built-in data logger that records up to 67,000 time-stamped samples and can be paired with the Sentinel PRO to provide access to the cloud.

Each system includes power failure monitoring and battery backup for continued monitoring during outages. Weatherproof enclosure options are available for demanding barn environments.
