High Plains cattle sales report

The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending Aug. 31, reported receipts of 42,848 head compared to 68,041 head a week ago and 54,568 head a year ago, according to the USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report was based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 11,353 head, 1,285 to 1,675 lbs., 242.00 to 245.00 (244. 44); 65 to 80% Choice, 4,429 head, 1,240 to 1,600 lbs., 238.00 to 242.00 (241.74); 35 to 65% Choice, 757 head, 1,350 to 1,539 lbs., 242.00. Live delivered, over 80% Choice, 408 head, 1,425 to 1,525 lbs., 246.00 to 248.00 (247.07).
