Veterans benefits and claims event April 24

Veterans are encouraged to attend a free benefits and claims event at the Heartland Preparedness Center from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 24, at 2808 N. New York, Wichita, Kansas. 

This event will afford veterans and surviving spouses to get the Veterans Administration and state benefits they earned with their military service. 

The VA will have exams onsite and the Kansas Office of Veterans Services will have benefit assistance representatives on site to help file for benefits.  

This event is for all veterans and especially invited are Native American and Kansas National Guardsmen. 

An appointment is not required. Veterans and their families can get information on toxic exposure, how to enroll in VA health are, how to file VA disability claims, how to get VA health exams, Native and tribal veterans resources, women’s health care and service officer, how to get military records and DD214 form, surviving spouse benefit, suicide prevention, National Guard resources, and veterans organizations.

Veterans’ mobile exams will available onsite to provide several types of exams needed for claims. 

Other supporting entities will be attending including theSedgwick County Register of Deeds, VA Health Care, Veterans Employment with Kansas Works, Community Mental Health and Public Health Care, VET Centers, and Tribal Health.
