Montana residents can reduce their 2026 state income taxes while preparing for current and future healthcare costs by taking advantage of a Montana medical care savings account.
Montanans can open a medical care savings account at a bank or credit union or make deposits into existing MSAs before Dec. 31 to reduce their state income taxes for 2026, according to Marsha Goetting, Montana State University Extension family economics specialist.
For more details about Montana MSAs, visit a local MSU Extension office or access the MontGuide factsheet “Montana Medical Care Savings Accounts (MSAs) for the 2026 Tax Year” online.
