Dry conditions depleting soil moisture supplies

Dry conditions during the month of February depleted soil moisture supplies throughout the state, according to USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service, Mountain Regional Field Office, New Mexico.

Areas with adequate moisture were waiting for warmer soil temperatures to encourage wheat growth. Topsoil moisture levels were reported as 51% adequate to surplus, compared with 35% last month.
