Ft. Smith livestock auction report

The Ft. Smith Stockyards, Ft. Smith, Arkansas, reported receipts of 1,632 head selling on Feb. 19, compared to 1,135 head a week ago and 1,997 head last year, according to the Arkansas Department of Agriculture to USDA Market News Service, Little Rock, Arkansas.

Compared to a week ago, feeder steers under 400 pounds were selling $7 lower, 400 to 500 pounds were selling $1 higher, over 500 pounds were selling $1 to $2 lower. Feeder heifers under 400 pounds were selling $4 higher, 400 to 600 pounds were selling steady to $2 higher, over 600 pounds were selling $3 lower. Slaughter cows were selling steady. Slaughter bulls were selling $5 higher. Value added denotes cattle weaned at least 45 days, castrated and administered two sets of pre-conditioning vaccines. The supply included 1034 feeder calves, 398 feeder yearlings, 87 replacement cows, 94 slaughter cows, 17 slaughter bulls and 2 replacement bulls. The feeder supply included 42% steers, 53% heifers and 5% bulls. Nearly 31% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.
