Clovis Livestock Auction report
The Clovis Livestock Auction, Clovis, New Mexico, reported receipts of 2,275 head selling on March 28, compared to 2,548 head a week ago and 1,475 head last year, according to the to the New Mexico Department of Agriculture-LPGMN Division USDA Market News, Clovis, New Mexico.
Compared to a week ago, feeder steers and heifers were selling steady to $1 higher, except 400- to 600-pound value added were selling $2 to $4 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls were selling $1 to $2 higher. Trade was active, demand moderate to good. The bulk of the supply was medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows were 7% of the offering, slaughter bulls less than 1%, bred cows 4%, pairs 2% and feeders 87%. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 54% of the run, heifers 45%, feeder bulls 1%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 44%.
