McAlester livestock auction report

The McAlester Union Livestock Market, McAlester, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 1,675 head selling on June 26, compared to 1,750 head a week ago and 1,200 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Compared to a week ago, steer calves under 450 pounds were selling $6 lower, over 450 pounds were selling steady to $3 higher. Heifer calves were selling steady to $2 lower. Quality was plain through average with a few groups of attractive calves. Demand was moderate. The supply included 28% over 600 pounds with 44% heifers. Slaughter cows were selling steady to $4 higher except boners were trading $2 lower. Slaughter bulls were selling $2 higher. A total of 350 cows and bulls sold with 63% going to packers. McAlester Union livestock will be closed July 4th for the holiday.
