Ada livestock auction report
The Southern Oklahoma Livestock Auction. Ada, Oklahoma, reported estimated receipts of 1,730 head selling on Oct. 17, compared to 854 head a week ago and 2,376 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Compared to a week ago, steer and heifer calves under 500 pounds were selling $2 to $4 higher, heavier weights were selling $3 to $5 lower on comparable sales. Muddy conditions and forecasts for additional rain and colder temperatures hindered receipts again. Overall quality was mostly average to attractive. Demand was good for weaned calves, moderate for unweaned. Heifers made up 40% and cattle over 600 pounds 30% of supply.
