Apache livestock auction report

The Apache Livestock Auction, Apache, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 1,583 head selling on May 31, compared to 2,146 head a week ago and 1,910 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Compared to a week ago, feeder steers were selling $2 to $4 higher. Feeder heifers weighing 600 to 750 pounds were selling $1 to $5 higher, 750 to 850 pounds were selling $2 to $5 lower. Steer calves were selling steady to $5 higher. Heifer calves were selling $3 to $6 higher. Quality was good to attractive with good demand. The supply included 74% over 600 pounds and 49% heifers. Slaughter cows were selling $1 to $2 lower. Slaughter bulls were selling steady. Packer demand was moderate. A total of 179 cows and bulls sold with 68% going to packers.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 2 to 4 years old, 1150 lbs., with 125- to 150-lb. calves, average quality 1410.00 to 1435.00; 5 to 7 years old, 975 to 1000 lbs., with 100- to 175-lb. calves, average quality 1035.00 to 1235.00.
