San Angelo Livestock Auction report

The San Angelo Producers Livestock Auction Co., Report, San Angelo, Texas, reported receipts of 783 head selling on Oct. 11, compared to 1,300 head a week ago and 2,478 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, San Angelo, Texas.

Compared to a week ago, steer and heifer calves and yearlings were selling steady in a light test. Slaughter cows were selling weak to $1 lower; slaughter bulls were not well tested. Stock cows and pairs were selling moderately higher. Trading and demand were moderate for calves and yearlings, trading was active under good demand for stock cows and pairs. Quality was full range from attractive to plain. The supply included 15% slaughter cows, 1% slaughter bulls, 64% feeders, 20% stock cows and pairs. The feeders included 65% were steers and bulls, 40% weighed over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 333 lbs., 207.00; 704 lbs., 140.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 285 lbs., 192.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 188.00 to 193.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 168.00 to 174.00; 500 lbs., 156.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 136.00 to 143.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 132.00 to 135.00. Medium and large frame 2, 380 lbs., 160.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 154.00 to 165.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 138.00 to 143.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 128.00 to 134.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 122.00 to 127.00. Medium frame 2 to 3, 388 lbs., 144.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 126.00 to 138.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 122.00 to 130.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 44.00 to 52.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1050 to 1500 lbs., 50.00 to 55.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 850 to 1400 lbs., 46.00 to 54.50; low dressing, 40.00 to 46.00; 85 to 90% lean, 600 to 900 lbs., 30.00 to 42.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1, 1500 to 1800 lbs., 80.00 to 83.00; low yielding, 1150 to 1750 lbs., 65.00 to 73.50.

Stock cows/heifers: All were pregnancy tested, all were sold by the head. Medium and large frame 1, heifers 1200.00 to 1300.00; baby tooth 1525.00; solid mouth 1350.00 to 1550.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, baby tooth 1075.00 to 1250.00; solid mouth 1150.00 to 1275.00. Medium and large frame 2, 725.00 to 975.00. Medium frame 2 to 3, 400.00 to 410.00.

Pairs: All were sold by the pair. All have 150- to 350-lbs. calves. Medium and large frame 1, baby tooth 1400.00 to 1550.00; solid mouth, 1300.00 to 1450.00.
