San Angelo livestock auction report

The San Angelo Producers Livestock Auction Co., Report, San Angelo, Texas, reported receipts of 1,300 head selling on Oct. 4, compared to 807 head a week ago and 1,183 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, San Angelo, Texas.

Compared to a week ago, steer and heifer calves and yearlings were selling firm. Slaughter cows were selling $1 to $2 lower, slaughter bulls were selling $2 to $4 lower in light test. Stock cows and pairs were trading steady in a light test. Trading was fairly active, demand good. Quality was full range from attractive to plain. The supply included 15% slaughter cows, 1% slaughter bulls, 79% feeders, 5% stock cows and pairs. The feeders included 50% steers and bulls, 40% weighed over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 350 lbs., 208.00 to 210.00; 420 lbs., 192.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 166.00 to 173.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 250 to 300 lbs., 192.00 to 194.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 187.00 to 196.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 171.00 to 182.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 150.00 to 159.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 140.00 to 144.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 135.00 to 138.00; 857 lbs., 136.00. Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1, 1500 to 2450 lbs., 76.00 to 80.00; low yielding, 1150 to 1600 lbs., 65.00 to 76.50.

Stock cows/heifers: All were pregnancy tested, and all were sold by the head. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 1050.00 to 1100.00.

Pairs: All were sold by the pair. All have 150- to 350-lb. calves. Medium and large frame 2, 1025.00.

Stocker/feeder cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young, 800 to 1000 lbs., 93.00 to 109.00 hundredweight; young and middle age, 800 to 1100 lbs., 77.00 to 85.00 hundredweight; middle age, 900 to 1450 lbs., 57.50 to 75.00 hundredweight; thin and or aged, 800 to 1375 lbs., 43.00 to 59.00 hundredweight.
