Ozarks Regional livestock auction report

The Ozarks Regional Stockyards, West Plains, Missouri, reported receipts of 4,634 head selling on July 17, compared to 4,406 head a week ago and 1,998 head last year, according to the USDA-Missouri Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Jefferson City, Missouri.

Compared to a week ago, steer and heifers calves were trading unevenly steady with spots selling $3 higher and lower. In another good test of the yearling market, yearlings were trading steady to firm. Demand was good on a heavy supply. Hit and miss thunder showers have provided some temporary relief for those fortunate enough to be hit. Lack of forage and limited supplies of hay has resulted in many bringing their livestock to town much sooner than planned. The feeder cattle supply included 46% steers, 0% dairy steers, 50% heifers and 4% bulls. The feeder cattle supply over 600 pounds was 49%.
