Colorado feeder cattle auction summary
The Colorado Auction Feeder Cattle Summary, Greeley, Colorado, reported receipts of 16,907 head selling on Nov. 2, compared to 20,368 head a week ago and 14,746 head last year, according to the USDA-Colorado Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Greeley, Colorado.
Compared to a week ago, trade activity and demand was moderate to good. Volume of feeder cattle running through the barns remains slightly higher than the prior year. Feeder steers under 600 pounds were trading steady to $5 lower, and steers weighing over 600 pounds were selling mostly $3 to $4 lower on a light test. Feeder heifers under 600 pounds were trading mostly $4 lower, and over 600 pounds were selling unevenly steady on a light test. The feeder supply consisted of approximately 58% steers, 41% heifers and 1% bulls. Feeder cattle over 600 pounds made up approximately 35% of the supply.
