Joplin Regional cattle sales report
The Joplin Regional Stockyards, Carthage, Missouri, reported receipts of 5,170 head selling on Aug. 20, compared to 5,368 head a week ago and 3,372 head last year, according to the USDA-Missouri Department of Agriculture Market News, Jefferson City, Missouri.
Compared to a week ago, steer and heifer calves under 500 pounds and yearlings steers over 700 pounds were selling steady to $3 higher, steers 500 to 700 pounds were selling steady, heifers calves over 500 pounds and yearling heifers were selling $2 to $6 higher. Demand was good, supply was moderate. The feeder cattle supply included 51% steers, 43% heifers and 5% bulls. The feeder cattle supply over 600 pounds was 51%.
