Russell Feeder Cattle Auction report
The Russell Feeder Cattle Auction, Russell, Iowa, reported receipts of 3,193 head selling on March 19, compared to 3,307 head selling at the March 5 sale and 4,809 head last year, according to the USDA-Iowa Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Des Moines, Iowa.
Compared to the March 5 sale, feeder steers under 600 pounds were selling mostly $8 to $10 lower, steers 600 to 700 pounds were selling mostly $4 to $6 higher, steers over 700 pounds were selling mostly $3 to $6 lower and feeder heifers were trading mostly $5 to $8 lower. Trade was active and demand good. Receipts this week included 68% feeder cattle over 600 pounds, 52% of the feeders were steers and 48% were heifers.
