Aberdeen livestock auction report
The Hub City Livestock Auction, Aberdeen, South Dakota, reported receipts of 6,688 head on April 25, compared to 1,529 head last week and 6,614 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
The offering was too light the past week to develop an accurate trend; however, higher undertones was noted on most weight classes of steers. There was good to very good demand for this large offering of many strings, loads and packages of both home raised and back grounded attractive quality steers and heifers in this offering. There was very good demand seen for cattle suitable for grass and a couple loads of drug free steers. The flesh was varied, from light to heavy. Steers made up 77% of the feeder supply and heifers were 23%, with 96% weighing over 600 pounds.
