The Lexington Livestock Market, Lexington, Nebraska, reported receipts of 3,943 head selling Dec. 21, compared to 3,970 head a week ago, according to the Nebraska Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Kearney, Nebraska.
Compared to a week ago, steers over 450 pounds were selling steady to $6 higher except 700 to 800 pounds were selling $3 lower and heifers 450 to 750 pounds were selling steady to $7 higher. Demand was good from the buyers in the crowd from beginning to end of the auction. Around 350 head of slaughter cows and bulls were included in the receipts. The calf and feeder supply included 58% steers and 42% heifers with nearly 65% of the run weighing over 600 pounds.
