Tulia Livestock Auction report

The Tulia Livestock Auction, Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 1,889 head selling on Sept. 13, compared to 1,246 head a week ago and 2,420 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to a week ago, yearling steers and heifers were selling $2 to $4 higher. Steer and heifer calves were selling with a lower undertone. Trade was fairly active on very good demand. Slaughter cows and bulls were selling steady to $1 lower. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 1%, less than 1% replacements and 99% feeders. The feeder supply consisted of 65% steers and bulls, 35% heifers. Approximately 65% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 188.00 to 192.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 170.00 to 183.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 150.00 to 165.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 158.00 to 164.00, calves or full 136.50 to 145.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 154.50 to 160.00; loads 863 lbs., 153.35; loads 954 lbs., 136.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 600 to 700 lbs., 151.00 to 157.00; 750 to 800 lbs., 153.00, few 758 lb. calves 139.00; few 824 lbs., 140.00. Holstein steers, large frame 3, few 700 lbs., 61.00.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, lot 480 lbs., 148.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 125.00 to 143.00; few 689 lbs., 113.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, few 643 lbs., 110.00.
