Tulia Livestock Auction report
The Tulia Livestock Auction, Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 1,219 head selling on Aug. 30, compared to 486 head a week ago and 1,415 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.
Compared to a week ago, feeder steers and heifers were selling steady to firm on limited comparable sales from the previous sale’s light run. Trade activity was moderate on good demand. Several loads of attractive quality seven weight steers were available. Slaughter cows and bulls were trading mostly steady. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 2%, 1% replacements and 97% feeders. The feeder supply consisted of 64% steers and bulls, 36% heifers. Approximately 52% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.
Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 250 to 300 lbs., 200.00 to 201.00; 300 to 350 lbs., 194.00 to 200.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 165.00 to 191.50; 450 to 500 lbs., 154.00 to 176.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 144.00 to 163.50; lot 673 lbs., 158.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 154.50 to 158.50.
