High Plains slaughter cattle sales report

High Plains weekly weighted average direct slaughter cattle sales for the week ending Sept. 2, totaled 66,593 head selling, compared to 95,196 head a week ago and 62,261 head last year, according to the USDA Livestock, Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report was based on sales in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 20,885 head, 1,250 to 1,565 lbs., 104.00 to 108.50 (107.14); 65 to 80% Choice, 8,693 head, 1,275 to 1,520 lbs., 105.00 to 108.00 (107.30); 35 to 65% Choice, 2,153 head, 1,250 to 1,495 lbs., 107.00 to 107.50 (107.11). Dressed delivered basis, over 80% Choice, 8,461 head, 805 to 1,010 lbs., 168.00 to 171.00 (169.53); 65 to 80% Choice, 1,980 head, 864 to 975 lbs., 168.00 to 171.00 (169.84); 35 to 65% Choice, 64 head, 756 lbs., 170.00.
