High Plains cattle sales report

The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending May 31, reported receipts of 48,451 head compared to 42,536 head a week ago and 64,894 head a year ago, according to the USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report was based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 9,116 head, 1,350 to 1,675 lbs., 255.00 to 258.00 (256.80); 65 to 80% Choice, 2,739 head, 1,220 to 1,675 lbs., 256.00 to 257.00 (256.96); 35 to 65% Choice, 2,128 head, 1,450 to 1,650 lbs., 257.00. Live delivered basis, over 80% Choice, 3,234 head, 1,450 to 1,625 lbs., 256.50 to 261.50 (260.82). Dressed delivered basis, over 80% Choice, 8,642 head, 853 to 1,095 lbs., 405.00 to 413.38 (405.21); 65 to 80% Choice, 556 head, 896 to 928 lbs. 405.00. Dressed FOB, 731 head, 945 to 1,040 lbs., 405.00 to 407.00 (406.90).
