Vegetable Gardening 101 Class to be held in Cozad on Feb. 3
It is time to start planning your upcoming vegetable garden. Join us for the Vegetable Gardening 101 class at 10 a.m. CST, Feb. 3, at the Wilson Public Library, 910 Meridian Avenue, in Cozad, Nebraska.
If you want to start a garden for the first time, raise a container garden or find out about vegetable varieties that are well suited to thrive in western Nebraska, this is the program for you.
David Lott, District Horticulture Educator with Nebraska Extension, will be teaching participants a number of topics related to vegetable gardening for the upcoming season. These topics include the following:
Interpreting Seed Catalogs and Gardening Website Information;
Gardening Soil Sampling and Nutrient Recommendations;
Garden Plot Planning;
Container Gardens;
Growing Crops from Seeds and Transplants;
Vegetable Gardening Maintenance; and
Common Vegetable Garden Diseases and Pests.
This class is sponsored by the Petals Federated Garden Club of Eustis and Cozad. There is no charge for this class but please register by Feb. 1, to ensure educational materials will be available for all participants. Please RSVP to the Dawson County Extension Office in Lexington at 308-324-5501.
