San Angelo livestock auction report

The San Angelo Producers Livestock Auction Co., San Angelo, Texas, reported receipts of 624 head on Jan. 18, compared to 1,692 head last week and 619 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, San Angelo, Texas.

Compared to a week ago, the steer and heifer calves were firm to $2 higher. The slaughter cows and slaughter bulls were steady. The stock cows and pairs were steady. The trading and demand was moderate. The quality was mostly average to plain. The supply included 9% slaughter cows, 1% was slaughter bulls, 85% was feeders and 5% was stock cows and pairs. The feeders included 65% steers and bulls and 30% weighed over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 500 lbs., 183.00 to 186.00; 500 to 525 lbs., 163.00; 600 to 650 lbs., 147.00 to 155.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 250 lbs., 174.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 174.00 to 180.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 152.00 to 159.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 131.00 to 139.00; 708 lbs., 131.00.
