Ada livestock auction report
The Southern Oklahoma Livestock Auction, Ada, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 2,185 head selling on May 30, compared to 1,796 head a week ago and 1,429 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Compared to a week ago, steer and heifer calves opened steady and closed steady to mostly $2 higher. There was no recent test on yearlings for comparison but comparable sales were sharply higher. Demand was good for all classes but only moderate for fleshy calves. Overall quality was plain to average with a few attractive larger packages offered. Heifers made up 50% and cattle over 600 pounds 30% of the supply.
