Ada livestock auction report
The Southern Oklahoma Livestock Auction, Ada, Oklahoma, reported estimated receipts of 1,150 head selling on Aug. 15, compared to 1,176 head a week ago and 1,213 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Compared to a week ago, steer and heifer calves under 500 pounds were selling steady to $2 higher, heavier weights were selling steady to weak but were lightly tested. Demand was very good for light calves. Overall quality of offerings was plain to average, especially on the heavier calves. Heavy rainfall helped reduce receipts for the second week in a row but producers are very grateful for the moisture. Heifers made up 38% and weights over 600 pounds 27% of the supply.
