The Ft. Pierre Livestock Auction, Ft. Pierre, South Dakota, reported receipts of 9,998 head selling on Oct. 19, compared to 2,920 head a week ago and 8,354 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Compared to a week ago, steer calves from 400 to 500 pounds were selling $4 to $6 lower. Steers from 500 to 650 pounds were selling $8 to $10 lower. Heifer calves from 400 to 500 pounds were selling $6 to $10 lower, 500 to 600 pound heifers were selling from $2 to $6 lower. The offering included 22% over 600 pounds with 57% steers, and 43% heifers.
