Fort Pierre Livestock Auction report
The Fort Pierre Livestock Auction, Ft. Pierre, South Dakota, reported receipts of 9,750 head selling on Nov. 9, compared to 8,392 head a week ago and 5,465 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Compared to a week ago, steer and heifer calves were selling $5 to $10 lower, instances of $12 lower on steers weighing 550 to 600 pounds and 650 to 700 pounds. Yearling steers and heifers were not well tested for comparison. A very large offering of calves, most all pre-conditioned and right off the cow were met by only moderate demand. The feeder offering was 27% over 600 pounds with 62% steers, and 38% heifers.
