The ranch, listed at $46,513,600, spans about 29,071 deeded acres and was the largest property on the market in Brewster County at the time of its sale. Hall and Hall represented the property.

Originally established in the early 1960s by Midland oilman W.B. “Dub” Yarborough and his wife, Kay, the ranch grew from an initial 3,520 acres into a large-scale cattle and recreational operation.

Located about 17 miles south of Alpine along Highway 118, the ranch features varied terrain with elevations ranging from about 4,050 feet to more than 5,000 feet. The property includes views of Elephant Mountain, Cathedral Mountain and Mount Ord.

Improvements on the ranch include a 4,000-square-foot main residence known as “The Casa,” with four ensuite bedrooms and radiant-heat flooring. The property also includes a manager’s home, bunkhouses, barns, shops, an office and a roping arena.

The ranch is equipped for livestock production, with more than 28 wells powered by wind, solar and electric systems, along with 21 fenced pastures and 10 sets of working pens supporting a cow-calf operation.

Wildlife on the property includes elk, mule deer, aoudad, black bear and mountain lions, reflecting the area’s diverse habitat.

Chad Dugger, a partner with Hall and Hall, said the ranch drew strong interest due to its size and characteristics.

“It’s rare to see a ranch of this caliber hit the market,” Dugger said. “This is one of those special places you just don’t want to leave.”

The property is located within driving distance of Marfa, Fort Davis and Big Bend National Park. The sale represents a transition to new ownership for one of the larger ranch holdings in the region.
