High Plains cattle sales report

The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending Dec. 7, reported receipts of 57,974 head compared to 46,673 head a week ago and 58,978 head a year ago, according to the USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report was based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 23,688 head, 1,324 to 1,750 lbs., 215.00 to 226.00 (221.06); 65 to 80% Choice, 643 head, 1,450 to 1,650 lbs., 215.00 to 225.00 (220.72); 35 to 65% Choice, 1,020 head, 1,300 to 1,540 lbs., 225.00. Live delivered, over 80% Choice, 1,856 head, 1,450 to 1,650 lbs., 220.00 to 225.00 (223.32). Dressed delivered, over 80% Choice, 6,269 head, 837 to 1,108 lbs., 340.00 to 345.00 (342.67); 65 to 80% Choice, 145 head, 954 lbs., 340.00.
