High Plains cattle sales report

The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending March. 2, reported receipts of 42,259 head compared to 57,934 head a week ago and 42,649 head a year ago, according to the USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report was based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 14,868 head, 1,385 to 1,735 lbs., 239.00 to 245.00 (242.57); 65 to 80% Choice, 1,622 head, 1,325 to 1,570 lbs., 242.00 to 245.00 (244.06). Live delivered basis, over 80% Choice, 1,643 head, 1,340 to 1,625 lbs., 244.00 to 246,50 (245.26). Dressed delivered basis, over 80% Choice, 8,167 head, 837 to 1,118 lbs., 378.00 to 384.00 (382,62); 65 to 80% Choice, 326 head, 961 to 1,016 lbs., 382.00. Dressed FOB delivered basis, over 80% Choice, 35 head, 953 lbs., 383.00.

Heifers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 8,507 head, 1,275 to 1,575 lbs., 239.00 to 245.00 (242.67). 65 to 80% Choice, 1,375 head, 1,250 to 1,495 lbs. 243.00 to 244.00 (243.95).
