Managing the invisible infrastructure behind Minnesota’s water

Behind the scenes, University of Minnesota Extension, the Water Resources Center and partners are a big reason why Minnesota is a national leader in water management. 

Teams of researchers and students dug soil pits across southern Minnesota to examine what’s happening beneath the surface. By mapping how water moves through different soils, they are providing critical data to help watershed planners, modelers and local farmers build land systems resilient against extreme weather.
