Arkansas livestock auction summary

The summary of livestock auctions in Arkansas for the week ending May 11, showed estimated receipts of 11,400 head selling, compared to 11,895 head a week ago and 12,975 head last year, according to the USDA-Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service, Little Rock, Arkansas.

Compared to a week ago, feeder steers under 650 pounds were selling $2 to $5 lower, over 650 pounds were selling $1 to $3 higher. Feeder heifers were selling mostly $1 to $5 lower. Slaughter cows were selling $1 to $4 lower. Slaughter bulls were selling $3 lower. The supply included 7,645 stocker and feeder calves, 1,705 feeder yearlings, 950 replacement cows, 915 slaughter cows and 185 slaughter bulls. The feeder supply was 42% yearling heifers.
