Luckily a lot of our area is actually doing good as far as moisture. Three months ago we were very dry. But where I live, a neighbor said we had received 5 inches of rain in the past two weeks.
Two other ranchers spoke up and one said 3.6 inches and another 4 inches. Whichever is the case, one said, “Our grass looks as good as it can for July.” Some around are not in quite that good of shape but most are somewhat close and at least in decent shape. I have some customers who are several hours away that tell me they are dry.
I thought our bred cows could have been a little higher in price, with pairs selling better. Killing cows and bulls were a little cheaper. I figured with a drought in both directions of us for several hundred miles there would be plenty of slaughter cows and bulls. Normally we do get cheaper somewhere in September or October because a lot of ranchers sell their cows when they wean spring-born calves. I like to sort my older cows off in a separate pasture and sell the cows earlier than that.
I normally keep the calves. The calves are a little smaller but you are weaning at a time when it is easier to keep them healthy and the cow is fleshier. A drought will sometimes change the glut of cows, changing the situation.
A blond was using her phone and she said, “What does IDK stand for.” I told her, “I don’t know.” She said, “Why does no one know?”
My boss told me to have a good day. So I did and left and went home.
Today at the bank an older woman asked me to check her balance. So I pushed her over.

Why are married women heavier than single women? The reason is single women come home and see what’s in the fridge and go to bed. Married women come home and see what’s in bed then go to the fridge.
