Springfield cattle market report
The Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Missouri, reported receipts of 2,194 head on April 11, compared to 940 head last week and 2,421 head last year, according to the USDA-Missouri Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Jefferson City Missouri.
Compared to a light test a week ago, the steers were selling $3 to $6 higher, except 550- to 650-pounders selling $6 to $10 higher and heifers weighing under 650 pounds were selling $5 to $10 higher and those over 650 pounds were selling $2 to $5 higher. The Holsteins, when compared to two weeks ago, those weighing under 700 pounds were selling $5 to $10 higher and those over 700 pounds were steady to $5 higher. The demand was good and the supply was moderate. The feeder cattle supply included 31% steers, 20% wasa dairy steers, 38% was heifers and 11% was bulls. The feeder cattle supply over 600 pounds was 36%.
