San Angelo livestock auction report

The San Angelo Producers Livestock Auction Co., Report, San Angelo, Texas, reported receipts of 1,147 head selling on Aug. 30, compared to 1,162 head a week ago and 675 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, San Angelo, Texas.

Compared to a week ago, steer and heifer calves and yearlings were selling $2 to $4 lower with most decline on heifers. Slaughter cows and slaughter bulls were selling fully $1 to $3 lower. Stock cows and pairs were selling steady in a light test. Trading and demand was moderate. Quality was full range from attractive to plain. The supply included 15% slaughter cows, 1% slaughter bulls, 80% feeders, 4% stock cows and pairs. The feeders included 55% were steers and bulls, 30% weighed over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 500 to 600 lbs., 166.00 to 176.00, few 179.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 146.50 to 151.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 136.00 to 142.50; 820 lbs., 136.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 171.00 to 180.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 166.00 to 170.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 150.00 to 162.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 139.00 to 145.00; 840 lbs., 131.00. Medium and large frame 2, 200 to 300 lbs., 150.00 to 170.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 148.00 to 169.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 146.00 to 164.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 135.00 to 149.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 125.00 to 133.00. Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1300 to 1675 lbs., 48.00 to 57.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1500 lbs., 51.00 to 58.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 850 to 1400 lbs., 50.00 to 55.50; 43.00 to 50.00; 85 to 90% lean, 600 to 900 lbs., 32.00 to 43.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1, 1500 to 2000 lbs., 76.00 to 83.00; low yielding, 1150 to 1600 lbs., 63.00 to 74.00.

Stock cows/heifers: All were pregnancy tested and sold by the head. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 1010.00 to 1130.00. Medium and large frame 2, 810.00 to 900.00. Medium frame 2 to 3, 590.00 to 740.00.

Stocker/feeder cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young, 900 to 1050 lbs., no test; young and middle age, 800 to 1100 lbs., 80.00 to 85.00 hundredweight; middle age, 900 to 1450 lbs., 60.00 to 68.00 hundredweight; thin and or aged, 800 to 1375 lbs., 44.00 to 55.00 hundredweight.
