The Amarillo Livestock Auction Summary, Amarillo, Texas, reported receipts of 399 head selling on Sept. 17, compared to 684 head a week ago and 886 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to a week ago, there were not enough comparable sales for an adequate market trend. Trade activity was slow on moderate demand. Slaughter cows and bulls were selling steady to firm on a light test. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 7%, 1% replacements and 92% feeders. The feeder supply consisted of 54% steers and bulls, 46% heifers. Nearly 27% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 500 lbs., 175.00 to 180.00; few 587 lbs., 147.00; 600 to 700 lb. calves 137.50 to 140.75; 700 to 800 lbs., fleshy 133.00 to 134.00; few 813 lbs., full 141.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, few 350 lbs., 176.00; few 800 lbs., full 136.00. Medium and large frame 2, few 531 lbs., 129.00. Holstein steers, large frame 3, lot 490 lbs., 56.00; few 648 lbs., 57.00; few 817 lbs., 71.00.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, few 423 lbs., 164.00; lot 510 lbs., 146.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, few 347 lbs., 145.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 139.00 to 150.50.
