Cash bids higher
Compared to Dec. 29, cash bids for wheat, corn, sorghum and soybeans were higher, according to the National Grain Market Summary, Jan. 2.
Weekly export inspections for last week totaled 26.9 million bushels of corn, 41.9 million bushels of soybeans and 10.1 million bushels of wheat. All export inspections could be viewed as bearish. Total inspections remain lower than a year ago.
Corn was 2 to 3 cents higher. Sorghum was 4 1/2 cents higher. Soybeans were mostly 10 to 15 cents higher. Wheat was mostly 6 to 7 cents higher.
In the futures close, Kansas City March wheat was $4.34 3/4, up 7 1/2 cents.
Terminal wheat bids, paid for truck delivery, included Kansas City, $4.17 3/4, up 7 1/2 cents; Minneapolis, $6.28, up 3 1/4 cents; Portland, $5.25 to $5.30, unchanged; St. Louis, $4.33 to $4.43, up 6 cents.
Terminal corn bids, U.S. No. 2 yellow, price paid for truck deliver, included: Kansas City, $3.28 1/4, up 2 1/2 cents; Minneapolis, no comparisons; southern Iowa, $3.28 1/4 to $3.35 1/4, up 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 cents; Omaha, $3.28 to $3.30, up 3 to 2 cents.
Terminal soybean bids, U.S. No. 1, price paid for truck delivery, included: Kansas City, $9.26 3/4, up 15 to 10 cents; Minneapolis, no comparisons; southern Iowa, $9.02 3/4 to $9.29 3/4, up 11 to 6 cents; central Illinois processors, $9.44 3/4 to $9.49 3/4, up 15 to 2 cents.
Kansas City wheat prices Jan. 2, spot, fob track, included: No. 1 hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, $4.69 3/4 to $4.84 3/4, up 7 1/2 cents; 12% protein, $6.24 3/4 to $6.39 3/4, up 7 1/2 cents; 13% protein, $6.69 3/4 to $6.84 3/4, up 7 1/2 cents; 14% protein, $6.86 3/4 to $7.01 3/4, up 7 1/2 cents. U.S. No. 2 soft red winter wheat was unavailable. U.S. No. 2 white corn was $3.15 to $3.49, no comparison.
