High Plains direct slaughter cattle sales report

High Plains weekly weighted average direct slaughter cattle sales for the week ending Sept. 9, totaled 110,708 head selling, compared to 66,593 head a week ago and 47,431 head last year, according to the USDA Livestock, Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report was based on sales in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 28,060 head, 1,250 to 1,618 lbs., 106.00 to 109.00 (107.49); 65 to 80% Choice, 12,300 head, 1,215 to 1,575 lbs., 107.00 to 108.50 (108.02); 35 to 65% Choice, 2,535 head, 1,285 to 1,500 lbs., 107.00 to 108.00 (107.96). Dressed delivered basis, over 80% Choice, 17,004 head, 774 to 992 lbs., 168.00 to 173.00 (170.25); 65 to 80% Choice, 4,587 head, 851 to 1,004 lbs., 169.00 to 173.00 (170.09); 35 to 65% Choice, 215 head, 930 lbs., 173.00 Live delivered basis, over 80% Choice, 987 head, 1,275 to 1,475 lbs., 108.00 to 109.00 (108.82).
