High Plains slaughter cattle sales report

High Plains weekly weighted average direct slaughter cattle sales totaled 85,151 head selling onJan. 22, compared to 93,313 head a week ago and 107,723 head last year, according to the USDA Livestock, Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report was based on sales in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% choice, 13,915 head, 1,350 to 1,640 lbs., 120.00 to 125.50 (122.90); 65 to 80% choice, 8,676 head, 1,260 to 1,585 lbs., 119.75 to 123.50 (122.86); 35 to 65% choice, 3,537 head, 1,180 to 1,575 lbs., 121.00 to 123.50 (122.89). Dressed delivered basis, over 80% choice, 11,219 head, 816 to 1,032 lbs., 192.00 to 196.00 (194.88); 65 to 80% choice, 3,539 head, 779 to 967 lbs., 194.00 to 195.00 (194.92); 35 to 65% choice, 114 head, 855 to 864 lbs., 195.00.
