Winning both winter wheat Bin Buster awards and many first-place trophies, farmers planting Limagrain Cereal Seeds varieties brought home a lot of gold in this year’s National Wheat yield contest.
In the Winter Wheat-Dryland category, LCS Shine showed why it got its name by outshining the competition. Steve VanGrunsven of Forest Grove, Oregon, earned the prestigious Bin Buster title with an outstanding yield of 170.63 bushels per acre using LCS Shine. Clint Zenner from Genesee, Idaho, secured second place with 167.03 bushels per acre using LCS Shine, while Garrett Warren of Dayton, Washington, claimed third with 164.68 bushels per acre with a combination of 50% LCS Shine and 50% LCS Jefe.
In the Winter Wheat-Irrigated category, Phillip Gross of Warden, Washington, flew to the top of the charts with LCS Jet, claiming the Bin Buster award with 223.08 bushels per acre, the highest yield of this year’s contest.
This makes LCS Shine a Bin Buster winner four years running.

“Our farmers are the source of our success; without their excellent communication, we would not have such intense clarity of focus and direction in our breeding efforts,” said Tatiana Henry, chief operating officer at Limagrain Cereal Seeds.
