The Briscoe County Beef Pre- and Post-Calving and Rebreeding Nutrition Program will be hosted by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office in Briscoe County on Oct. 22.
The meeting will be at the Hope Center, located on the west edge of Quitaque next to the Valley Farm Store. Registration will be from 11:30 a.m. to noon, with lunch at noon and the program to follow from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.
There will be a $10 fee, and those planning to attend are asked to RSVP by Oct. 19 to the AgriLife Extension office in Briscoe County at 806-823-2521.
Ted McCollum, retired AgriLife Extension Service beef cattle specialist, Amarillo, will be the guest speaker.
“Nutrition is one of the most important programs in a beef cattle operation,” said Mason Carter, AgriLife Extension agriculture and natural resources agent in Briscoe County. “Without proper nutrition, health issues and breeding failure can arise.
“This program will focus on cow nutrition at pre- and post-calving and nutritional requirements for cattle at rebreeding, which in my opinion are very critical times in beef cattle production.”
