High Plains cattle sales report

The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending Oct. 16 reported receipts of 80,333 head of cattle selling compared to 79,920 head a week ago and 61,986 head trading a year ago, according to USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri. This report is based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota feedlots. 

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 27,558 head, 1,300 to 1,650 lbs., 182.00 to 187.00 (184.89); 65 to 80% Choice, 8,318 head, 1,285 to 1,550 lbs., 182.00 to 186.00 (183.39); 35 to 65% Choice, 5,153 head, 1,200 to 1,550 lbs., 182.00 to 184.00 (182.64). Live delivered, over 80% Choice, 773 head, 1,400 to 1,500 lbs., 185.00 to 187.50 (186.14). Dressed delivered, over 80% Choice, 8,920 head, 806 to 1,045 lbs., 290.00 to 294.00 (291.89); 65 to 80% Choice, 1,884 head, 882 to 1,011 lbs., 288.00 to 292.00 (291.54); 35 to 65% Choice, 129 head, 991 lbs., 292.00.
