High Plains cattle sales report

The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending April 28, reported receipts of 75,141 head compared to 56,659 head a week ago and 70,834 head a year ago, according to the USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report is based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 21,359 head, 1,250 to 1,675 lbs., 182.00 to 187.00 (185.08); 65 to 80% Choice, 8,579 head, 1,150 to 1,600 lbs., 180.00 to 186.00 (182.36) 35 to 65% Choice 1,980 head, 1,130 to 1,525 lbs., 180.00 to 182.00 (181.80). Live delivered, over 80% Choice, 1,324 head, 1,400 to 1,650 lbs., 185.00 to 189.00 (187.66): 65 to 80% Choice, 42 head, 1,200 lbs., 181.00. Dress delivered, over 80% Choice, 8,355 head, 837 to 1,056 lbs., 290.00 to 303.00 (294.44); 65 to 80% Choice, 959 head, 900 to 968 lbs., 294.00.
