High Plains cattle sales report

The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending April 12, reported receipts of 29,361 head compared to 63,078 head a week ago and 38,541 head a year ago, according to the USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report was based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 7,479 head, 1,400 to 1,752 lbs., 245.00 to 250.00 (248.51); 65 to 80% Choice, 1,256 head, 1,340 to 1,675 lbs., 246.00 to 249.000 (247.79); 35 to 65% Choice, 80 head, 1,335 lbs., 246.00. Live delivered basis, over 80% Choice, 2,344 head, 1,475 to 1,600 lbs., 247.00 to 251.00 (249.51). Dressed delivered basis, over 80% Choice, 4,166 head, 868 to 1,083 lbs., 385.00 to 390.00 (388.44); Dressed FOB delivered basis, over 80% Choice, 40 head, 919 lbs., 385.00.

Heifers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 4,934 head, 1,240 to 1,575 lbs., 246.00 to 250.00 (248.43). 65 to 80% Choice, 1,358 head, 1,280 to 1,500 lbs., 244.00 to 249.00 (246.43); Live delivered basis, over 80% Choice, 403 head, 1,300 to 1,350 lbs., 248.00 to 250.00 (249.48).
